The short version. The Blackjack Strategy Trainer is a practice tool. It has no advertising, no third-party analytics and no trackers. Your hands, statistics and settings are kept on your own device. The Android app does not ask you to create an account and does not need one to work.
Everything the trainer remembers about you is written to your device's local storage and stays there:
None of this is transmitted anywhere by the Android app, and none of it reaches us. Android’s own backup is the one exception worth naming: if you have Back up to Google Drive switched on, the operating system may copy the app’s storage into your personal Google account so that a new phone can restore your progress. That is a transfer between you and Google, controlled by you in Android’s settings — we are not a party to it and cannot read it. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, deletes the copy on your device permanently. There is no copy for us to return to you and none for us to hand to anyone else.
The Android app does not offer sign-in and does not create an account. It plays entirely on device storage.
The website at blackjack.counter.software is a separate matter: it does require a Counter.Software account, and that account stores the same progress data listed above so it can follow you between browsers, along with the e-mail address and username you registered with. That is the only place your progress leaves your own machine, and only because you asked it to by signing in. Accounts are handled by Counter.Software's own service; nothing is sold, rented or shared with advertisers.
The Android app declares two permissions and neither is one Android asks you to grant. INTERNET is the standard permission a web-technology app is built with, and the app does not require a connection to function. The second is a self-permission the Android libraries add automatically so the app can register its own internal broadcast receivers; it is scoped to this app's own signature and gives it no access to anything of yours.
The trainer's bug reporter builds a message and hands it to your own e-mail app. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can read and edit the whole thing first — including the technical details it attaches, which are the app build, your language, your screen size, your device’s browser user agent and your current table rules. If you write to us, we keep your message so we can reply to it.
This is a gambling-strategy trainer and is not directed at children. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and no money is wagered inside it.
Because the app keeps your data on your device, you control it directly: clear the app's storage, or uninstall it, and it is gone. If you hold a website account and want it and its data deleted, write to the address below and we will remove it.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top will change and the current version will always be at this address.
